La beauté n’a pas d’ âge: Savonnerie Designs by Loomah

At Loomah we have many Savonnerie style designs in our portfolio inspired by the traditional Savonnerie carpets of 17th Century Europe, which take their name from a former Parisian soap factory that became famous for producing hand knotted carpets by royal appointment.

Savonnerie carpets were traditionally made from wool, with small details often highlighted in silk. The carpets were hand knotted and would often feature central medallions, elaborate motifs and ornate borders.

In keeping with the styles rich heritage, Aurelie is developed from a traditional Savonnerie design and is manufactured using the same hand knotted techniques that were used to create the original carpets that would have graced the most lavish of palaces across 17th and 18th Century Europe.  A colour palette of muted pastels offers a more modern interpretation of these classical designs that can easily harmonise with the interiors of today.
