Sitting amongst the clouds on the 10th floor with breath taking views of London, the Penthouse at Belvedere Gardens is a staggering 3862 sq ft luxury apartment in the new Southbank Place development. Featuring three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a kitchen that opens into a dining area and terrace, this exclusive residence was designed by award winning London interior design studio, Goddard Littlefair.
Goddard Littlefair’s design compliments what they consider to be a “quintessential London aesthetic.” A key factor in the design concept for the Penthouse was anticipating the needs and requirements of its future residents, creating a home that complements a lifestyle that is likely to feature travelling, food, luxury and wellness.
The influence of their culture and lifestyle can be seen through personal touches throughout the home
“Our initial concept for the penthouse started with a [discussion] to share ideas and construct the narrative for the project, beginning with imagining the future resident and creating a personality for them,” says Mathew Freeman, Senior Interior Designer at Goddard Littlefair. “The influence of their culture and lifestyle can be seen through personal touches throughout the home that come together to create an enchanting apartment that represents the best of London and provides endless spaces to relax, work and entertain.”
“Every piece of furniture was custom made and, together with the fittings and fixtures, cost more than £1 million. The quality and craftsmanship is just exceptional,” adds Martin Goddard, Co-Founder and Director at Goddard Littlefair.
Loomah were approached by Goddard Littlefair to design and supply custom made rugs throughout the penthouse apartment.
For the living room and master bedroom, Loomah designed and supplied bespoke rugs hand tufted from tencel. More resilient and easier to clean than viscose and silk, tencel is becoming a firm favourite amongst the Loomah team for its natural shine, high performance and added green credentials
[Tencel] has a beautiful fluidity so is well suited to abstract designs
“Tencel is a lovely material to work with,” says Abigail Avery, Designer at Loomah Bespoke Carpet and Rugs. “Its versatility means there are few design limitations however it lends itself best to more modern designs. It has a beautiful fluidity so is well suited to abstract designs but works equally as well with classic geometrics and animal prints.”
The living room rug draws inspiration from the classic crocodile print, evoking travels to exotic destinations. The lines have been hand drawn by our designer to give a more organic feel to this modern interpretation of an iconic motif.
Combining a smooth cut pile finish with a textured loop adds interest and an almost three dimensional quality that is empathised by the use of a single colour. The result is a timeless design that anchors the space without stealing from the show stopping panoramic views of London.
The master bedroom rug features a simplified leopard print design. This sophisticated interpretation of an iconic pattern is elevated by the single colourway whilst the natural lustre of the smooth cut pile and contrasting loop adds texture and depth. The finish is one off understated luxury that is sure to stand the test of time.
Loomah also supplied and installed luxury fitted carpets to the additional bedrooms, dressing room and study.
For these areas we used synthetic silk, a lovely alternative to silk when practicality is paramount but you still want to sink your feet into something wonderfully soft. Synthetic silk has a beautiful lustre, adding a touch of luxury and warmth to create a cosy, welcoming space.
A palette of soft greys was used for both the hand tufted rugs and fitted carpets, creating continuity throughout the space and connecting it to the London skyline that has heavily influenced the penthouse’s overall aesthetic.
“It is a honour to be part of such an exclusive project, adds Andrew, Founder and Director at Loomah Bespoke Carpets and Rugs, “especially when such a high precedence has been placed on quality and craftsmanship, two of the pillars on which I set out to build Loomah.”
