“wool’s unique properties offer unsurpassed benefits”
Versatile and durable, wool is by the far the most popular material used when commissioning a bespoke carpet or rug. A completely natural and resilient fibre, wool’s unique properties offer unsurpassed benefits, making it an ideal flooring choice for almost every space.
Loomah use only the finest and most luxurious yarns in the manufacture of our bespoke carpets and rugs. All our wool is pure New Zealand wool, which is renowned for being of the highest quality. Sheep are raised on fertile open pastures, in a climate ideally suited to growing clean white wool of exceptional quality. Compared to other wools, it is naturally whiter resulting in more vibrant colours when dyed and has a longer staple length, leading to less shedding and a softer, smoother finish. It is also incredibly long-lasting when properly cared for.
We have three grades of wool available: single-ply wool, semi-worsted wool and worsted wool.
Our single-ply wool is unsurpassed when offering durability without compromising on luxury. Denser and with a thicker yarn than both semi-worsted and worsted, our single-ply wool is the most hardwearing wool available. Its natural strength and ability to withstand heavy foot traffic make it suitable for use in any area within both residential and contract interior settings.
Our single-ply wool is unsurpassed when offering durability without compromising on luxury. Denser and with a thicker yarn than both semi-worsted and worsted, our 100% wool is the most hardwearing wool available. Its natural strength and ability to withstand heavy foot traffic make it suitable for use in any area within both residential and contract interior settings.
Our single-ply wool offers unlimited design options. Its density means it offers exceptional design detail so is favoured for highly detailed designs.
For further increased density we also offer a two-ply wool. This is especially useful for traditional designs offering superior design definition for ornate motifs and intricate design details as well as offering increased durability.
Semi-worsted wool offers a middle ground between single-ply and worsted wool. Offering a subtle sheen, it feels soft underfoot whilst maintaining the resilience of wool. Similarly to single-ply, its ability to withstand heavy wear means our semi-worsted wool is suitable for use in luxury residential and commercial interiors.
Worsted wool is the highest grade of wool available offering the ultimate in elegance and luxury. The fine yarn gives an almost velvet like finish that feels wonderfully indulgent when walked upon.
The lesser density of worsted wool results in an innate sheen and offers more movement, lending itself beautifully to more abstract and painterly designs.
The finer yarn of worsted wool is more delicate in comparison to our other grades of wool however it still maintains all the properties and benefits of wool and is suitable for use in both luxury residential and commercial interiors but best suited to areas that receive lighter wear such as such as bedrooms and living rooms.
